Tell about the most unforgettable experience you’ve ever had.
My most unforgettable experience that I ever had was running the Airtel Delhi half-marathon. It was an astonishing run, as over 15.000 people participated and ran 21 kilometers. The event was incredible, as the flaire was amazing. Seeing so many people run at the same time, following the same goal, to finish 21 kilometers in less than three hours.
The previous day I picked up my timing chip and running bib at the JLN stadium in New Delhi, than I went out for dinner, ate lots of pasta to carboload myself for the big race.
At the race day I woke up around 5’clock in the morning, preparing by drinking lots of energy, nutrient drinks and eating more power bars. Arriving at the stadium, where the starting line was, I checked in and got myself to the area of the starting line. Over a couple of thousands of people were already waiting there. As it finally started it took quite a while for me to pass the starting line, the race already started seven minutes before, since I had a timing chip it did not matter. The first 5 kilometres I ran at a slower pace as I had to pass many thousands of people that were already walking.
Around seven kilometres the professional Kenians and Ethiopians passed me already as they were on kilometre 16. This was pretty amazing, this motivated me to run even faster.
The last kilometres were really hard to run, as my legs to tired and I did not feel them anymore. I finished at a time of 1 hour and 39 minutes. A very good time, I aimed for about 1 hour and 45 minutes.
Overall the race was a very nice experience, and I would always run it again.
