College Question 138

Find X.

I believe X is happiness. You look for it every day, every year, the entire life because without happiness no one will succeed in life. Many people relate that the thing in life is to have money, doing something cool but I believe as long a person is happy enough and can say “this is what I wanted to achieve“ this is what really counts in life.

To find X will take a long time, not everyone is happy of attending school, waking up early in the morning or other things that we kind of have to do. Maybe there could be some days during the teen years where I can say that this day was really good because… and I am really happy now.

After school, attending university can make people happy as they rather want to study in what they are interested and not like school where several subjects have to be completed, whether a person likes or dislikes them.

After university, people look for jobs, in fields they are interrested in. This is another step towards happiness. To have a job and achieve something in this job could make a person satisfactory. But all of this does not really concern the private life of a person.

People have different aspects to what they want to achieve in their private life. It could be being married, having kids or just having a partner or having a different partner each week. As long a person is happy X is found.

It could take years to find X, maybe the entire life of a person. Each person is looking for something different. This makes every single person unique and also the X they are looking for in their life, but I am hundred percent sure that my X is happiness.

College Question 191

Jogging has become extremely popular. Explain why you jog or why you don’t.

Jogging is one of my favorite activities I like to do. Whether it is before school or after school I just enjoy being out there, challenging myself.

Jogging has been with me since I was a small kid. I enjoyed it everyday. Jogging gives me the feeling of being free. After a long school day to jog around in the Himalaya‘s is very relaxing. It is the only time I do not have to be worried about my acadamic work. It is like having free time from school and other people. Sometimes I run together with a friend or the school‘s physical education teacher, but I preferr to just do it alone.

To jog gives me that feeling to be free, I can decide the pace, how long I want to jog and even what route I should take. It is all up to me. In addition I like to challenge myself, some days I do not feel like jogging at all but then to overcome myself I get out there.

The best part is when I am done with jogging. I can say that I have accomplished something, while other people watch a movie and have not been productive at all it is a very pleasant feeling to actually have done something good to myself. I like to be different from others, meaning not being lazy, because the more jogging lets me accomplish more personal goal‘s I, which builts my self confidence.

It is a good feeling to jog around, setting off stress from school, and taking a brake from my homework.

College Question 53

Do you believe there’s a generation gap? Describe the differences between your generation and others.

I do believe that there is a huge generation gap between my generation and other generations, such as the ones that my parents are in or even older ones, the generation of my grandparents. My generation grew up with technology; gameboys, laptops, flat screen televisions and much more. Other generations, like the ones my parents or grandparents are completely different.

The generation my grandparents grew up in was during the World War II times and the aftermath of the war. The world was in total chaos and Germany was basically destroyed. Food was scarce, but other necessary items such as medicine were not common to find. The conditions to live in are not comparable with the living standard my generation lives in.

The generation my parents grew up in was already a little more convenient. Germany was built up again, and technology items started to develop. Television‘s, phones, cassette players etc. become popular. Still life was not very easy, Germany was split in two; the DDR and west Germany. Both of my parents lived in the west so they were not affected by communism, and therefore had a higher living standard than people in the DDR.

My generation is completely different. I believe that my generation could be seen as a “lazy“ generation as most things become easier through information technology. Sending messages / e-mails, calling a friend, watching T.V. and much more. Laptops become most efficient same with the World Wide Web, everything can be found on it, whether it is information for a school essay or streaming the latest music.

A generation gap does exist, even the children that were born in this year will have a generation gap to my generation as the world progresses at a very fast pace.

College Question 25

Select a technological innovation of this century and discuss its effects on your family, local community or nation.

The technological innovation of this century is the iPhone. The iPhone was the first one of its kind, or also considered as a “smart phone“. The iPhone has changed peoples lifes, and the iPhone has effected my nation local.

As the iPhone got on the market, firms got interested in making programs called “Apps“. These Apps can be a game, a service or anyother kind that could be an entertaining program. Many people nowadays use an iPhone, not just because it is considered as cool but an iPhone can help a lot on daily bases. One of the most important features that can be used the best on the smart phone is surfing in the internet with out any problems that would occur with any other phone. Due to the fact that the iPhone has a large touch screen, a fast prozessor and a lot of storage capacity.

The iPhone is therefore a very attractive phone and with a contract from a phone service company it does not get to expensive. Due to this the iPhone is very popular in Germany. Many people use its services, the internet but also the variety of Apps that can be downloaded. The effects that this has on my nation is the more efficient way of communicating. In a good way; messages, emails, pictures can be sent faster to other people. In a bad way; people tend to become more lazy, meaning sending invitations, printing via bluetooth. The standard of living increased by a lot in certain ways, by being more efficient in one way but in the other way the people themselfes tend to become more lazy.

College Question 212

When your life changed forever

My life changed forever since I attended Woodstock School in India. Woodstock School is an international boarding school in the Himalaya‘s, 2000 metres high. The school live is totally different from what I have experienced at home, back in Germany. The boarding school functions in  a differnt way than a day school. The approach of learning is different, as the students have to become more independent inorder to function at this school.

Firstly the school system is different, I had to engage with the IB and now I am at war with the American AP‘s. Not only that but the fact that I am not at home, far away, alone and I have to organise my self much better than at home, this is a real challenge for me, by this I gain experience that will change my life forever.

To live in a dorm with other students is also a new challenge that has to be faced, also contrasting from home, where siblings, and/or parents are around. The problems that face the students have to be conquered mostly by them selves, which brings a different attitude towards the students.

I believe that being at a boarding school gives me challenges to face, and by this I will learn. Which will change my life forever.

All these new and difficult challenged have to be conquered. I think the experiences that I have gained so far in the three semesters that I have attended the school have already changed my life forever.

College Question 255

If animals could talk, what would your pet say about you?

If animals could talk my pet, dog Jack, would say to me that I am awesome. I love Jack and Jack loves me, well that is true for me, I do not know if that is true for my dog. I allow Jack to do certain things he cannot do with other people. I think that I treat him like a V.I.P. dog. Feed him, care for him, take him for walks etc. All these things I do with Jack because he is a really cute dog.

My mom, dad or my brother don‘t to things with Jack that I do. Sometimes when I open the fridge and a couple of slices of Pepperoni‘s are there I eat them and when Jack is there too, he gets on slice as well. When other‘s do that he has to sit there and watch. It is fair to say that my dog is a little spoiled. Due to the fact that he always wants more and is not happy with the amount he gets. Whether it is food or other things, he cannot be satisfied. One funny example is that during the night he comes into my room, wakes me up and wants to jump into my bed. I let him do that but he can only sleep at my foot level, because Jack is very spoiled he does not like that and wants to sleep higher up, where my arms, head are. I don‘t let him, push him back where he can sleep. Now the dog decides to leave because he does not like that. How arogant is that?!? No one else in the family let‘s him do that.

All these things I do for my dog takes time, and I am the only person that cares so much for him, that is why I would say that he would tell me that I am awesome.

College Question 201

What are some important qualities of a good supervisor? Would you be a good boss?

There are many important qualities of a good supervisor. It is important to listen to other people, get ideas from other‘s and not to only think what is in the own interest. To work hard is important because only due to this can goals be accomplished. To treat everyone in a fair way, even if work from others is better or worse. Equality is important. The value to respect everyone is significant. To motivate other people is important as well.

I would be a good boss because I have the qualities mentioned above. I work good with other people, I enjoy group work and not only follow what I think is best but I also listen to friends and whast they think could be the best solution. With this I also treat all people the same, which I think is really important. I do work a lot, and that is a fact. Sometimes people ask me why I work so much because they only see me working. I do value each idea from everyone, no matter on what topic.

Respect is really important as people that get respect are motivated and therefore work better and harder, which leads to success. I can motivate people, as the motivation, the enjoyment increases, other‘s tend to show more effort of putting in time.

With all these qualities, which I have, can a boss be a good leader. To care and lead people to the succees.

College Question 204

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? People should sometimes do things that they do not enjoy doing.

I agree with the statement that people should sometimes do things they do not enjoy doing. Everyone knows the feeling when something has to be accomplished but cannot be really bothered to do it, because it is a pain. But now or later, it has to be done. Everyone is a little spoiled in this way, because we only want to do things that we like.

If everyone just does what they like, I believe that this will ruin the character of people. Only doing things that I like would make me really spoiled. Most people will react negative to things they do not want to do, this reflects on their character. If they only do things they want to do, and a person comes a long telling them to do something else, they do not want to do, the certain person will react negatively to this other person.

Everyone has to do something they do not enjoy, otherwise it will change the person. Everyone has seen some kind of children in movies, fat and spoiled kids. They only do what they want, and they react to things they do not want to do in a bad way. Screaming at the parents, destroying things and much more. I believe that if everyone only does things that they like to do, everyone will end up in the same way. It is good to do something that is not enjoyable, which will keep up the character but after it is done, everyone has a good feeling.

College Question 205

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Television, newspapers, magazines, and other media pay too much attention to the personal lives of famous people such as public figures and celebrities.

I agree that all these media pays too much attention to the personal live of famous people such as public figures and celebrities. Every time I turn on the television, I see news about some celebrity, what they do, where they spend their holidays, what car, clothes, house, horse, watch etc. they have. Do I really care? Not really as I have something better to do with my live than to follow up on people that are in movies. Not only television, but also magazines where 1092304929 interviews are shown with some famous person. I think it is not bad to follow up on famous people, what price they get and for what and other things like that, but to really follow them up on every little thing they do in their personal live is just stupid. Of course, many people buy that and the magazine companies make a lot of money but I think that it is a little too much.

If I would be followed by camera men and other people all the time I think that I would go crazy and kill one or two of them. Okay, maybe not but I would be annoyed and then things do not turn out very funny anymore.

To pay little attention on what famous people do, but having a camera team visit your house and follow up what restaurant, club you go to is just too much.

College Question 231

When you had the desire to run

I had the desire to run when I was in first grade. I just joined a football team and one of the fastest players. I really enjoyed running after the ball, scoring of course. Running was just the best part. I noticed that I like running more than playing football. That was when I was in fourth grade. After leaving the football team I switched to Triathlon. Swimming, cycling and running. It was pretty fun to do. It took up all my time, especially on the weekends. Getting up early, and start training. But also before school, weaking up at 5 a.m. to go running was really intense. But I enjoyed it.

I did this for a couple of years, my motivation was to be placed far in front in the competitions. I always came fourth but never third, second or first, because always the same people were present. This went on for about two to three years. Then finally, getting older, meaning to get higher in the age groups during the competitions, the distances increased. I also got bumped up a league, competing again the best out of the state was a lot of fun. That really gave me the desire to run, a lot and fast. The first year I was far behind, as I was new in the age group. In the age group there are two years. Meaning there are people that could be 14 years old and people that are 15 years old. Of course the older people are faster. But the next year still being in the same age group, but being on of the older one‘s improved my placements. This is what really gave me the desire to run.
